The Donkey Sanctuary
Created for the charity to bring awareness to the impacts of the Donkey Skin Trade on the communities and individuals that rely on them.
It was the flagship piece of The Donkey Sanctuary’s ‘Stop the Slaughter. End the Donkey Skin Trade’ campaign, and was shortlisted for the 2023 Third Sector Excellence Awards for Best Large Charity Film.
Behind The Scenes
This subject matter wasn’t the only challenging aspect of this project. The client wanted a hand drawn sketchy style, but the timescale and budget called for puppet animation rather than frame by frame. To accommodate this, I illustrated the backgrounds and characters in photoshop using graphite style brushes and loose expressive strokes (keeping each element on seperate layers) and rigged the puppets in after effects using Joysticks and Sliders.
